EDINBORO, Pennsylvania - Same opponent. Same gym. Same result. A year ago, Shaw University began its run to the NCAA Division II Final Four with a upset win against Edinboro University.

On Monday night, the Lady Bears took the Lady Scots down again, this time in the Atlantic Regional final, 70-53 at McComb Fieldhouse. Shaw will play the South Central Regional champion in the Elite Eight, which begins March 20 at Bill Greeney Arena in San Antonio, Texas.  Emporia State and Pittsburg State played for the South Central Regional title Monday at Lee Arena in Topeka, Kansas.

Last season, Shaw, as an eighth seed, beat Edinboro, the top seed, by 21 points, 72-51, in the regional quarterfinals at McComb Fieldhouse.

The Lady Bears proceeded to win the regional and reach the Final Four. This season, Shaw (26-6) returned to Edinboro (30-2) to defend its regional title as a second seed while the Scots were back in their building as the top seed and ranked third nationally.
