B-CU baseball team routs Savannah State

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida - Ali Simpson pitched for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery a year ago. The lefty started and went two innings, allowing one hit and no runs, striking out two and walking two in Bethune-Cookman's 10-1 win over Savannah State (11-21, 5-7 MEAC) on Sunday at Jackie Robinson Ballpark to complete a three-game sweep over the Tigers.

"It was an awesome feeling just to be able to pitch again," Simpson said. "I think my arm has gotten stronger from the rehab and everything that we've done, so I was really happy with that."

Brandon Turner went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored to lead Bethune-Cookman (19-13, 9-3). B-CU's Alejandro Sanchez also drove in three runs and finished 2-for-5 in the game. Anthony Stokes went 2-for-4 and homered for the Wildcats.
