S.C. State’s Buddy Pough answers 5 questions

ORANGEBURG, South Carolina  --  Today marks the beginning of the 12th season as South Carolina State head football coach for Buddy Pough. Since taking over the program from the legendary Willie Jeffries in 2001, Pough has posted the second-most wins (88) in his alma mater’s history to go with four Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championships and three Football Championship Subdivision playoff appearances.

Despite the success, the disappointment of last year’s 5-6 record stands out as glaring on Pough’s resumé. A season which started with promise ended in disappointment with the first losing campaign under Pough and first for the program since 2000.

A new year saw Pough make various changes from bringing back Joseph Blackwell as offensive line coach and offensive coordinator to shifting around responsibilities for nearly every position on offense. The Bulldogs will also avoid the challenges of traveling long distances for several games last season as 10 of the 12 games this season will take place exclusively within the Carolinas and Georgia.

Pough discussed the changes and upcoming season through a series of questions.
