FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina -- Seventy-First High School football player Evan Raines, 16, died at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center on Saturday after collapsing at the end of a morning practice.Raines was listed on last year's Seventy-First roster as a 6-foot-1, 210-pound, sophomore defensive end.
Frank Till, superintendent of Cumberland County Schools, said Raines got sick at the end of practice.
"We don't know medically what happened,'' Till said. "The first responders and EMS got there, and he passed away at the hospital."
Till said he went to both Seventy-First and the hospital.
