FAMU AD Overton hires new compliance officer, working with FSU on football schedule

TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- Florida A&M Athletic Director Milton Overton Jr. on Monday added the newest member of his executive staff.

Elliot Charles will serve as FAMU's director of compliance and the new deputy athletic director under Overton. Charles comes to Florida A&M from the University of South Florida, where he was the associate athletic director of compliance.

Before working at USF, Charles was the associate commissioner for compliance for the Mid-American Conference. FAMU head coach Alex Wood coached at Buffalo (part of the MAC) from 2011 until 2014.

Charles also worked at Alabama — Overton's last post — as an assistant director of athletic compliance.
