Rush receive votes, will play host to No. 17 Tougaloo
The Gold Rush (8-6) were 23rd in the preseason rankings Oct. 23 and received zero points in the previous poll Dec. 4. But three victories in four games since then — including a 68-66 victory Saturday against then-No. 5 Campbellsville in the Cumberlands Classic at Williamsburg, Ky. — helped put XULA back on the national radar.
The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference's lone ranked team is Tougaloo, which is 17th and will visit XULA at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Convocation Center. It will be the Gold Rush's GCAC opener. Tougaloo (11-2) will open its GCAC schedule at 5 p.m. Saturday at SUNO.
Campbellsville dropped to seventh. LSU-Alexandria, 2-0 this season against XULA, is No. 1 for the second consecutive poll.

Same points for Nuggets, who resume schedule at LOC
XULA (10-4) will play LeMoyne-Owen (5-8) of NCAA Division II at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at LOC's Bruce-Johnson Hall in Memphis, Tenn. It will be the Gold Nuggets' first game in 16 days. Then on Monday, XULA will open its Gulf Coast Athletic Conference schedule at 5:30 p.m. in the Convocation Center against Tougaloo.
The XULA women have won five of their last six games.
XULA was one of two GCAC teams to receive votes in this week's poll. The other was Talladega, whose No. 12 ranking is the highest for the GCAC since the Gold Nuggets were ninth on Dec. 8, 2015. Talladega's ranking is its highest since Jan. 28, 2014, when it was 11th.
Defending national champion Freed-Hardeman climbed from second to first and received all nine first-place votes.
