The 2019 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments which will be held in @Jacksonville Florida on the campus of Edward Waters College will be streamed LIVE on the Black College Sports Network! March 1st-3rd the BCSN will stream ALL games in real time! 
“We are excited about the opportunity to showcase HBCU’s that don’t normally get the same coverage as some of their larger counterparts!” – Bryan Fulford VP & Co-Founder of the Black College Sports Network.
Leading up to the tournament we will feature a men’s and women’s team weekly on the @BCSNSportsWrap talk show, where we will talk to coaches and players from all of the member schools! This will be a special segment that will be a part of the regular weekly show! You will have the opportunity to see these teams during the regular season as they battle the Tigers of Edward Waters College Athletics as we will be broadcasting ALL home conference games starting in January!

Loyd, Mart earn GCAC end-of-season awards for 2018-19

JACKSONVILLE, Florida — Xavier University of Louisiana's William Loyd and Rayshawn Mart received 2018-19 men's basketball end-of-season awards Thursday from the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.
     

Loyd and Mart both were chosen second-team All-GCAC, and Loyd was named to the All-Defensive team.
     

Xavier University of Louisiana men's basketballAwards were presented at a banquet on the eve of the GCAC Tournament for men and women. XULA's Gold Rush (17-13) are fourth-seeded and will play fifth-seeded Philander Smith (11-18) at 11 a.m. EST Friday.
     
Loyd is a 6-foot-5 junior forward from Baton Rouge, La., and a former Madison Preparatory Academy and Spring Hill College standout. He leads the Gold Rush with 13.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game and a .602 field-goal percentage. He has six blocks and 33 steals.
     

Mart is a 6-3 guard from Houma, La., and a former H.L. Bourgeois High School standout. Mart averages 12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds and leads the team with 13 blocks and 38 steals. He is the first Gold Rush sophomore since Morris Wright in 2013-14 to make All-GCAC.

Jas Hill named GCAC Player of the Year for 2018-19

JACKSONVILLE, Florida — Three Xavier University of Louisiana student-athletes, including Player of the Year Jas Hill, received 2018-19 women's basketball end-of-season awards Thursday from the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.
     
Awards were presented at a banquet on the eve of the GCAC Tournament for women and men. XULA's Gold Nuggets (23-6) are top-seeded and will play eighth-seeded SUNO (6-22) at 5 p.m. EST Friday.
     

Hill, a 5-foot-7 junior guard/forward from Mobile, Ala., and a former LeFlore High School and Tallahassee (Fla.) Community College standout, is the Gold Nuggets' ninth conference player of the year and the first since Christina Warren in 2010-11.
     

The Gold Nuggets' additional awards:
     •  Hill, first-team all-conference.
     •  Essence Wells (5-10 junior guard, Irving, Texas), second-team all-conference for the second consecutive year.
     •  Mikayla Bates (5-7 senior guard, Baton Rouge, La.), All-Defensive team for the second consecutive year. Bates is the first XULA woman to be named All-Defensive twice.
     

Hill averages 15 points and 4.8 rebounds per game and has 34 made 3s, 10 blocks and 43 steals. 

Wells averages 8.8 points and has 34 made 3s, 10 blocks and 26 steals. Wells averaged 17.8 points in the final four regular-season games, all as a reserve.
     

Bates leads XULA with 51 steals and 158 rebounds. She is the seventh Gold Nugget to reach 600 points, 400 rebounds, 200 assists and 200 steals in a career.
