NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana's Jason Horn has been unanimously chosen to serve a two-year term as president of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference by the league's executive committee, effective immediately.

Horn — XULA's assistant vice president for student affairs / director of athletics and recreation — was selected during GCAC meetings at the NAIA National Convention April 11-15 in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Horn recently began his sixth year at XULA. He most recently served the GCAC as vice president and as chair of the athletic directors. Horn's peers selected him as GCAC Athletic Director of the Year for 2016-17.

"Jason is a well-respected athletic director in the GCAC and across the country," Dillard Athletics Director and GCAC Interim Commissioner Dr. Kiki Barnes said. "His election as president will solidify our leadership team. I am excited to work with him in this next chapter for the GCAC."

Horn is a Detroit native and a graduate of the University of Michigan. He is on the board of directors of the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation. Horn is a member of the NAIA's National Administrative Council (NAC), Tennis Selection Committee and Competitive Experience Committee. Horn also participates on several national working groups within the NAIA.

XULA is a longtime member of the NAIA and the GCAC. XULA sponsors intercollegiate teams in women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's tennis, men's outdoor track and field, women's indoor and outdoor track and field and co-ed competitive cheer.
