NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana's Department of Intercollegiate Athletics unleashed nearly 30 graduates to the world Saturday during XULA's 92nd annual commencement.
"This is one of my favorite days of the year," said Jason Horn, XULA's assistant vice president for student affairs/director of athletics and recreation. "It's always a thrill to see these graduates enjoy the fruits of their labors.
"Xavier has built a strong culture of academic success in the athletic department. That is due to the hard work and dedication student-athletes put into their academic pursuits, the valued collaboration with Xavier faculty and instructors and the support given to student-athletes by the staff and coaches."
It was the seventh consecutive year that the Convocation Center, which opened in 2012, was the graduation venue. The class of 2019 totaled nearly 600 graduates. The total number of athletic-related degrees was 29, including 19 student-athletes.
