Gallow joins XULA as associate athletics director

NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana announced Tuesday (Sept. 3, 2019) the hiring of Kimberly K. Gallow as associate athletics director, effective immediately.

Gallow joins XULA after nearly 4 1/2 years at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La., with the majority of that in the university-wide development office. Gallow was promoted to NSU associate director of development in January after nearly four years as assistant director of alumni affairs/development. Gallow was one of the lead fundraisers for all five NSU colleges.

"We are excited to welcome Kim to New Orleans and our team at 1 Drexel Drive," said Jason Horn, XULA assistant vice president for student affairs / director of athletics & recreation. "We were impressed with her energy and solid experience in several areas of external relations and recruiting. She is highly motivated and will prove to be a great addition to our student-centered program.

"When Kim visited campus, she had a plan on how she will enhance our student-athlete experience. She will have an immediate impact on our department."

XULA hired Gallow from a field of approximately 50 applicants.

Gallow assisted with the development of university-wide fundraising through initiating scholarships and campaigns focused around students and unrestricted contributions toward the university. Gallow is a former member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and, in 2017, served on the Mayor's Health & Fitness Council in Natchitoches. She was involved in numerous service learning projects that directly impacted the city of Natchitoches. She also served as a dancer while at Northwestern State and later assisted the team for competition and football seasons.

"I'm excited to add to the continuous success of Xavier," Gallow said. "I have a passion for helping students, and to be able to directly impact student-athletes at such a historic institution is an honor. Northwestern State has prepared me for any and every opportunity that presents itself in my life, and I am forever grateful for the years I worked there. I hope to continue to move the needle forward by preparing our future leaders both on and off the fields and courts."

Gallow is a native of Lafayette, La., and a graduate of Acadiana High School. She received a bachelor's degree in business administration from NSU in 2015 and is working on a master's from NSU in student affairs in higher education. NSU hired Gallow as a recruiter for Acadiana and greater New Orleans during the summer of 2015.

Gallow in 2016 founded Kimberly K. Gallow, LLC to offer branding, storytelling and consulting for businesses.

Gallow replaces Dr. Ashley Baker, who joined the athletics staff in March 2016 and was named in July as XULA's chief inclusion officer and deputy Title IX coordinator.

XULA is a longtime member of the NAIA and the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference and sponsors 11 intercollegiate teams.

What They're Saying About Kimberly K. Gallow

Dr. Jim Henderson, CEO/President, University of Louisiana System

"I have had the pleasure of watching Kim Gallow grow as a student, as a professional and as an emerging leader in higher education. Her infectious enthusiasm, boundless energy and exceptional professional competence make her an invaluable member of any team. Xavier University is a perfect environment for Kim to continue her development, and she will contribute immensely to the university's perpetual status among the elite institutions of higher learning."

Dr. Chris Maggio, President, Northwestern State University

"First of all, Kim Gallow is an exceptional person, one who will always lead with character and integrity. She did an amazing job at Northwestern State in her roles in university recruiting and development. She was highly respected by faculty, staff and alumni, and she is an extremely hard worker. Last year she was one of only two NSU employees chosen to participate in the University of Louisiana System Management and Leadership Institute. She has utilized opportunities such as this to grow professionally, and she has an extremely bright future. We wish Kim the best and know that she will do an outstanding job at Xavier University."

Dr. Caprice Ieyoub, Executive Director of Development, University of Louisiana System

\"I've thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with Kim over the past year as she participated in the UL System's Management & Leadership Institute. Her energy and motivation are impact driven, and I expect that Xavier's team and mission will benefit much from her contributions. I'm glad that Louisiana will continue to be her home, and I look forward to seeing her succeed in her new role."

Alejandro "Al" Perkins, University of Louisiana System Board Member and Former Chair / Xavier University of Louisiana Board Member

"Kim is an excellent addition to the Xavier family. She is high energy, high integrity, high creativity and impeccable character. Excellence is her only option."
