2026 Florida A&M University Football Coaching Staff | 👀 Great So Far!

Quinn F. Gray Sr. | Head Football Coach | Served as Albany State Head Coach from Dec. 19, 2022, ending a three-year career with a 24-11 overall record before moving on to FAMU. Coach Gray Sr. ASU Bio.  Coach Gray is a legendary FAMU QB under College Football Hall of Fame coach William 'Billy' Joe, the mastermind of the 'Gulf Coast Offense.' During Gray playing career as a Rattler, he set multiple all-time records, including: 
  • Career Passing Yards – 7,378
  • Pass Attempts – 1,113
  • Pass Completions – 562
  • Touchdown Passes – 57
  • Single-Game Pass Attempts – 65 vs. North Carolina A&T (2001)
Coach Gray has coaching stops at Albany State, University of Memphis, Alcorn State, Florida A&M University, and Tallahassee Lincoln High School. He was an undrafted free agent with the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars (2002-2007), Frankfurt Galaxy (2003), Houston Texans (2008), Indianapolis Colts (2008), Kansas City Chiefs (2008), and New York Sentinels of the United Football League (2009).  Gray's Frankfort Galaxy team won World Bowl XI at Hampden Park, Glasgow, Scotland over the Rhein Fire 35-16. Gray passed for a 20-yard TD in the 2nd quarter of the World Bowl.  Coach Gray is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
 
Ryan Lewis Sr. | Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers | Coming from UAB (cornerback coach); Alabama State defensive coordinator for prior three years where Hornets ranked/ finished No. 3 nationally in FCS total defense; and 2nd in the FCS in scoring defense in 2024. Lewis is from Pompano Beach, Florida. Coach Ryan Lewis Sr. UAB Biography.

Clinton E. Portis | Running Backs | Coming from 8-4 (4-1 MEAC) Delaware State.  DSU Hornets running backs improved exponentially averaging 6.5 yards per carry, averaging 290 yards per game. The team recorded 3,870 yards for the season on 536 attempts on the ground.  The Hornets scored at a clip of 32.5 points per game.  RB Marquis Gillis rushed for 1105 yards (6.3 average) and scored 8 TDs, and RB James Jones rushed for 958 yards, averaging 9.8 yards per carry, scoring 9 TD. QB Kaiden Bennett rushed for 564 yards on 115 carries, averaging 5 yards per carry.  Coach Portis was a 2nd Round .2002 NFL Draft Pick (51st.) from U. of Miami/Gainesville High School, Florida, going to the Denver Broncos. Portis played seven seasons with the Washington Redskins primarily as a starter. He rushed for just under 10,000 yards over nine NFL seasons and was a two-time Pro Bowl selection
  
Ron Dugans | Wide Receivers | Florida State WR coach 2019-2024. Played four seasons in NFL as wide receiver with Cincinnati Bengals and Houston Texans. 2000 NFL Draft 3rd Round, 66th overall pick. A FAMU High School graduate. Dugans was a standout receiver on the 1999 FSU BCS National Championship team. Previous FBS and NFL coaching stops during 2005-2024: FSU, Cincinnati Bengals, Georgia Southern, Louisville, South Florida, Miami (FL), and Florida State. Dugans served as both co-offensive coordinator & wide receivers coach at Miami in 2018.

Billy Rolle | TBD | Former Special Assistant/Asst. Head Coach to Head Coach Willie Simmons at FAMU; FAMU Sports Hall of Famer (DB); the only HS football coach in Florida history to win state championships at THREE different schools (Miami Northwestern, Miami Killian, and Miami Southridge; Won high school state and national championships in 2007 leading the Miami Northwestern Bulls. Coach Rolle had an outstanding career under College Football Hall of Fame coach Rudy Hubbard from 1980-1984.  After graduating from FAMU in the Class of 1984, he played professional football in the USFL and for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Orlando McKinley | Assistant Special Teams/Defensive Analyst | Former Albany State Cornerbacks Coach.  ASU McKinley Bio   Graduate of Atlanta's Westlake High School and Florida A&M University.  Holds FAMU and MEAC record for longest INT return for a TD at 100 yards. 

Larry Williams | TBD | 

Andre Pope | TBD | Previously coached defensive backs and served as defensive pass game coordinator at FAMU.  Coach Pope FAMU bio.  In 2022, served under Alabama State defensive coordinator Ryan Lewis in 2022 and 2023, ranked second in the SWAC in interceptions (14) and third in total defense (313.9), rush defense (126.6) and pass defense (187.2). In 2023, the Hornet defense 
ranked nationally in points allowed (2nd), yards allowed (3rd), passing TDs allowed (3rd), and defensive pass efficiency (10th).
