The best HBCU online degree programs allow students to experience some of these institutions’ culture, tap into a strong alumni network and maintain flexibility while meeting their educational and professional goals. Using Forbes Advisor’s rigorous 18-point methodology, we’ve ranked the best HBCUs that offer online bachelor’s degrees. The 10 schools on our list achieved high scores for ranking factors such as student-to-faculty ratio, affordability, school reputation and graduation rate.

Why Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Ranks as No. 1 
Tallahassee-based Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) offers online bachelor’s programs in fields such as criminal justice and global security and international affairs. Out of the 10 schools that made our list of the best HBCU online programs, FAMU has the highest student retention rate and lowest student loan default rate among alumni, as well as the second-lowest average in-state tuition rate. FAMU also scored relatively well for overall graduation rate and median annual earnings among alumni 10 years after graduation.
