Grambling goes full pads for second time in practice

The Grambling State University Tiger football team worked out in full pads on Friday morning for the first time during training camp. Head Coach Rod Broadway was pleased with what he saw after the morning workout.

"I think we're getting a little bit better," said Broadway. "A lot of the players are beginning to catch on but we still have to do a better job of eliminating mental mistakes along with doing a better job of teaching assignments. Our attitudes and work ethic are improving and if we continue to work hard we'll continue to come along."

After six days of workouts, the fear of fatigue always looms but Broadway said that won't be a problem as the joy of competition is enough to keep the players motivated to work hard.

"We still have another week left and I think the chance to earn respect in the program is motivation enough," he said. "I also think the players are aware if they practice hard and do the right things they'll have a chance to play. If they're not aware then they won't play."

The Tigers will open their first set of two-a-day sessions this morning with an 8 a.m. practice and wrap-up the session with a 120-play scrimmage beginning at 7 p.m. in Robinson Stadium.
