MEAC/SWAC Sports Main Street welcomes NCAA Division I Independent North Carolina Central University

This is the beginning of our third week of providing a daily consolidation of sports articles on the 10 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and 12 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) universities, including one Division I Independent, Savannah State University. Division I HBCU sports is the foundation of our blog, "MEAC/SWAC Sports Main Street." The widely acclaimed marching bands are given for flavor and enthusiasm.

Our objectives are to provide additional exposure to the MEAC/SWAC players and teams in a positive way on the Internet; provide positive stories regarding our member institutions in sports worthy of sharing; and creating a singular repository of sport events on Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). HBCUs Division I Independent teams, the MEAC and SWAC are often over-looked by the main stream press corps.

Hopefully, MEAC/SWAC Sports Main Street will help fill some of that void for HBCU and black college sports lovers who cannot find enough information on the Web on our teams and activities. This is not a contest about who's team or band is the best, but to provide positive exposure for all, so that everyone can enjoy the positives of the HBCU experience.

We hope also you are enjoying reading the articles, the action photos, slide shows, videos, and music selections from our celebrated marching bands that are being posted. So continue to visit and read about your favorite MEAC and SWAC sports programs.

Let us all welcome North Carolina Central University Eagles to "MEAC/SWAC Sports Main Street." NCCU is playing a number of MEAC schools in multiple sports during their five year Division I transition period, so it is important to stay abreast of their athletic activities. Welcome to the family--NCAA Division I Independent, North Carolina Central University Eagles and fans...
