No. 25 Tigers roll to remain in OVC raceAfter being derailed last week, Tennessee State settled back into the driver's seat of the Ohio Valley Conference by clobbering Tennessee Tech Saturday night 41-14. Not only did the No. 25 Tigers bounce back from a tough-to-stomach loss to Southeast Missouri, they did it with a backup quarterback making his first start. Dominic Grooms, a transfer from Missouri, stepped in for injured Antonio Heffner and in front of a homecoming crowd of 24,361, led the offense to its best performance of the year, according to Coach James Webster.
"This was as good of a game as we've played because we had no turnovers,'' Webster said. "If we don't turn the football over, we win." If TSU (7-2, 4-1 OVC) wins its remaining three games, it will win the conference championship and earn an automatic berth to the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. The Tigers have defeated the other two teams with one conference loss, UT Martin and Eastern Kentucky.
