EWC Receives Grant From Jacksonville Tourism Development Council for GCAC Championship

JACKSONVILLE, Florida -- The Jacksonville Tourism Development Council has granted Edward Waters College a special events grant in the amount of $10,000 for the upcoming Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Basketball Championship.

The funds will be used for advertisements and marketing in the home markets of other Conference institutions in order to promote the tournament which will be held March 1st-3rd at the Adams-Jenkins Community Sports & Music Complex and the newly acquired James Weldon Johnson Gymnasium.

"We are excited that the TDC has given us this grant." remarked Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Stanley B. Cromartie. "These funds will allow us to promote the GCAC Championships and truly help us take this event to another level."

GCAC Commissioner Steven B. Martin praised both Edward Waters' leadership, and the Jacksonville Tourism Development Council.

"On behalf of the GCAC, I would like to commend Edward Waters' President, Dr. A. Zachary Faison, Director of Athletics Stanley Cromartie, and the entire Edward Waters Athletics staff for their hard work in hosting the 2018 event," said Martin. "We look forward to a world class tournament in a world class city."
