Today marks the 50th anniversary of college football's racial breakthrough game between Tampa and @FAMUAthletics. For those unfamiliar with the story, please read on...

It's the 50-year anniversary of a classic — Florida A&M University 34, UT Spartans 28 — played before a sold-out, breathless crowd of 46,477 fans on Nov. 29, 1969 at the old Tampa Stadium.

Note:  The Marching 100 half-time performance on that historic night vs. University of Tampa was legendary.  I was there!! The above video is a sample of the '69 Marching 100 Band, which marched 131.   The band staff consisted of Dr. William P. Foster, Dr. Lenard C. Bowie, Mr. Charles S. Bing, Dr. John H. Daniels, Mr. Aaron Horne, Dr. Shaylor L. James, Mr. J. Lee McHugh, Mr. Richard J. Powers (Arranger) and Mr. Reinhardt Brown, announcer. Drum majors Edward Johnson, Anthony McQuay, and Herbert Richardson.

Dr. Foster and his staff were superb in developing innovative half-time shows.  You will never again see a precision drill executed by any band that approaches the creativity of the '69 Marching 100.  Hubba Doc!
