When the Saints Go Marching In. FAMU Marching Band with band staff Dr. William P. Foster, Lenard C. Bowie, Leonard L. Bowden, James H. Latimer, Charles E. Cox, and DeSayles Grey. Tallahassee, Florida. 1958. This record, recorded in Lee Hall on the campus of Florida A&M University, was one of the first recordings of the marching band. The 45 rpm record sold for $1.00 and $1.25 with shipping and handling. There were about 132 members in the marching band at that time.

FAM-U! FAM-U! I LOVE THEE
I’LL FIGHT AND WIN WHAT’ER THE BATTLE BE

I certainly enjoyed my time at Florida A&M University ín the '70's studing under the giants in the Department of Music and the industry -- Dr. William P. Foster, Dr. Lenard C. Bowie, Mr. Charles S. Bing, Mr. Richard Power (Composition/Arranger), Dr. Shaylor L. James, Dr. Julian E. White, Dr. John H. Daniels, Mr. Lindsey B. Sarjeant. Add in the mix, my bandmates in the 100: Trumputers (Dr.) Longineau Parsons, (Dr.) William McQueen, Professor Lindsey B. Sarjeant and (Dr.) Alfred Watkins of Georgia's Lassiter High School fame; Trombonist Robert U. Griffin, Mr. Elliot Seagraves, Ms. Debra Hines and Ms. Carmena Fennel to name a few of the students that help shape my life's pathway to success.  I could not have had a finer undergraduate education experience with a superb level of competition.  I said No to Florida, Florida State and Bethune-Cookman for a superior education.
