President abruptly fires Librarian of Congress Dr. Carla Hayden

Dr. Carla Hayden, the 14th Librarian of Congress, is an American librarian and the first woman and African American to hold the position. She was appointed in 2016 and oversees the Library of Congress, the largest library in the world. Dr. Hayden was born on August 10, 1952, in Tallahassee, Florida. Before becoming Librarian of Congress, she was the CEO of the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, Maryland for 23 years. Dr. Hayden earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Roosevelt University in 1973, a Master of Arts degree, and a Ph.D. in library science from the University of Chicago.
