Morgan State University’s Magnificent Marching Machine has come a long way since making history at the 2019 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Seven years later, M3 stepped onto an even bigger stage, marching 5.5 miles through Pasadena, California, in the 137th Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day 2026.
Behind that rise is Dr. Jorim Reid, a veteran HBCU band director with a history of building programs. A graduate of Florida A&M University and Florida State University who earned his Doctor of Musical Arts from Boston University, Reid previously left his mark at North Carolina Central and Fayetteville State before arriving at Morgan State in 2022.
At Morgan, Reid has continued doing what he has done throughout his career: build. The sound is bigger. The presentation is sharper. The national exposure is growing. And the students are performing on stages that extend well beyond Hughes Stadium.
From Macy’s in New York to the Tournament of Roses in Pasadena, Morgan State’s M3 has continued its climb.
