ORANGEBURG-Junior forward Jason Johnson tossed in 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds before leaving the game with what was later diagnosed as a broken nose with just under six minutes left to help South Carolina State(6-12, 2-2 MEAC)to a 60-58 win over Howard(4-14, 1-3 MEAC)Monday at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
Playing before a national television audience on ESPNU and a season-high 1,404 fans in attendance, the Bulldogs (6-12, 2-2) rallied from a six-point halftime deficit which grew to as many as nine in the second half. SCSU won despite missing 17 free throws and shooting 39.6 percent from the field.
