Lane College went from the brink of assuring its first win in 17 games to going to overtime in 46.7 seconds. Benedict beat the Dragons 30-23 in overtime at Lane Stadium on Saturday.
Lane (0-6) held a 23-20 lead late in the fourth quarter with the ball on the Benedict 1-yard line. Lane quarterback Tahj Dent appeared to have dived into the end zone for the two-possession lead, but the referees said that Dent fumbled and called a touchback to give Benedict the ball on the 20-yard line with 46.7 seconds remaining. Lane still held the 23-20 lead.
