HOUSTON, Texas - Several fans rushed the court at Texas Southern's H&PE Arena to celebrate when TSU guard Madarious Gibbs made a layup as time expired in regulation against Mississippi Valley State to send the game into overtime tied at 63.Security officials needed several minutes to clear the court so the contest could continue. Unfortunately for TSU fans, the celebration was premature.
Gibbs hit two layups in the final 12 seconds of regulation to send the game into overtime, but TSU fell flat in the extra period en route to dropping a 77-69 decision to the Delta Devils before a crowd of 1,412 on Monday night.
