MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- It has been 16 years since a Montgomery public school won a football championship, and 10 years since a team reached the title game.
But the new faces of the Montgomery public school teams plan to change that, and fast.
New hires Lee Carter at Jeff Davis, and C.J. Harris at Sidney Lanier, join G.W. Carver’s Billy Gresham and Robert E. Lee’s Tyrone Rogers as the four leaders of the Montgomery public school teams. But the four share more than a home field. All played at Cramton Bowl when they were at Alabama State.
Even though they are city rivals, all four have a common goal: bring Montgomery football back to the glory days.
