GULFPORT, Mississippi -- Former men's head basketball coach, Davey L. Whitney, was hospitalized earlier this week in Gulfport, Mississippi. Whitney suffered two mild strokes and was rushed to the hospital by his family on Monday afternoon. Whitney is returned home the same day and doing well. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.
Whitney coached the Braves from 1969 to 1989. He returned in 1996 and retired in 2003. He has an overall record of 566 wins and 356 losses. He coached the Braves to 12 SWAC Championships and five NCAA appearances.
