ORANGEBURG, South Carolina -- South Carolina State University’s financial woes and its problems with accreditation have made headlines for months, but through the eyes of some of its students, the university still tops the list in terms of excellence across the board.First of all, they say the school is a family that values students and makes them feel at home.
“At State, you’re not just somebody who went to college,” Antonio Hamilton said. “You’re somebody special.”
He transferred to S.C. State in 2012 because he liked the school’s “fighting Bulldog spirit,” Hamilton said.
“State really is often looked at as an underdog compared to other schools,” he said. “But we have a lot of fight. That’s what really brought me here.”
