They are bringing in reinforcements to make this historic occurrence happen. Head coach Hal Clifton announced two signees on Friday in Carolina Miranda-Suarez (5-foot-10, outside hitter, Guamani Private School, Borinquen Coqui Volleyball Club, Aguirre, Puerto Rico) and Addy Warfield (5-8, setter, Winter Springs High School, Florida-Orlando Volleyball Academy, Winter Springs, Fla.).
Miranda-Suarez and Warfield will join a team that loses only one senior in junior college transfer setter Megan Wiggins. They are expected to join a team with three seniors, four juniors and six sophomores.
Miranda-Suarez was the MVP of the 2015 Guamani Private School tournament. She was a National Honor Society student from 2016-18. As a club member of Borinquen Coqui Volleyball Club, she helped them win the Spring Power League Jeep Volleyball Challenge championship. They finished second in their division in the Capital Hill Philadelphia Qualifier. They finished third in The City of Las Challenge AAU.
Miranda-Suarez will bring another versatile player to AggieLand who can play back row and at the net.
“Carolina is a very smooth outside hitter that can play all six rotations,” said Clifton. “She sees the court well and is able to attack line, angle and seam and can do so with power when she needs it or finesse when it requires it. Warfield will serve as Wiggins’ replacement. She will also provide versatility for the Aggies. She can provide the Aggies not only someone who can get the volleyball to the Aggies talented hitters but can also help defend from the back row and score at the net.
“Addy is unassuming as a volleyball player but don’t let that fool you. She is extremely talented and has grown up playing volleyball,” said Clifton. “She is a coach’s kid that just understands the game at a different level. She is accurate with her sets and knows how to put her hitters into positions to score. Addy is a game and competes hard, which is something we love about her. She will continue to raise the level of play in our gym.”
The Aggies are coming off a 14-12 season. It is their first better than .500 season in 12 years. In the process, the Aggies reached their first MEAC tournament championship game in 13 years. They are expected to return first-team All-MEAC outside hitter Courteney Pitt, All-MEAC rookie libero Andrea Laboy-Rivera and versatile talent Edie Brewer.
