MAGNOLIA, Arkansas - Zoi Thompson scored 25 points and Zhanesha Dickerson had a double-double as the Lincoln women's basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 57-53 win over Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday (Nov. 10). The game was played at Southern Arkansas University as part of the GAC/MIAA Crossover Challenge.
Dickerson led LU with 10 rebounds and provided an assist and a steal while Thompson scored Lincoln's final seven points of the game and dished four assists. As a team, Lincoln shot .417 overall and .867 at the free throw line while Arkansas-Monticello (0-2) was held to .357 shooting from the floor.
Lincoln led 11-7 after the first period, but the Blossoms rallied to take a 19-18 advantage at halftime as well as a 40-38 edge through three quarters. The final period belonged to the Blue Tigers, however, as Lincoln shot .462 from the floor and held the Blossoms to just five buckets to secure the victory.
Tempary Gunter provided nine points and three boards to the winning cause while Alecia Kaelke added six points, five rebounds, two blocks, an assist and a steal. Alecia Gulledge contributed five points and a pair of steals, and Kiara Shoulded closed the scoring with two points and six rebounds.
Lincoln will try to start the 2018-19 season 3-0 as LU plays Stephens College in Jason Gym in its home opener on Tuesday (Nov. 13). Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CST.
