TALLADEGA, Alabama -- The Talladega Lady Tornadoes women's basketball team wrapped up their final home game with a contest against the Dillard Lady Bleu Devils on Monday evening. The team was looking for revenge as they had fallen to DU earlier in the season. This was also Talladega's Senior Day where Jazsmine Nelson, Ja'Nyia McNealy, Lyric Jordan, and Jamila Brooks were honored for their Lady Tornado career ahead of tip-off.
The Lady Tornadoes successfully defended their home court yesterday evening, taking down Dillard by a final score of 75-67. This was very indicative of just how in control Talladega was from start to finish in this game. For the better part of all four quarters, the Lady Tornadoes held a lead over the Lady Bleu Devils.
Talladega got off a very hot start in the first quarter. Through the opening ten minutes of action, the Lady Tornadoes held an 27-15 edge, thanks to ten points from Diamond Jolly.
Come halftime, Talladega's lead held steady at six points, as the Lady Tornadoes built a 47-41 edge over visiting Dillard. Jolly boasted a team-high 12 points through the opening half of action in Tornado Alley.
The advantage stood as the third quarter ended, as the Lady Tornadoes remained in control of the Lady Bleu Devils on home court 60-57. Jolly continued to pace Talladega with 14 points.
Though the Lady Bleu Devils tried to make things close late in the fourth, they were all but done in by a potent Lady Tornado attack. The final stood at 75-67 when the final buzzer sounded inside Tornado Alley.
Brijanee Moore would lead TC with 20 points while Jolly would add another double-double to her name with 18 points and 16 rebounds.
TC will wrap up their regular season on the road against Edward Waters Monday Feburary 25th.
