TALLADEGA, Alabama -- The second Senior Day game of the afternoon saw the Talladega Tornadoes men's basketball team (21-6, 9-3 GCAC) battle against the #25 nationally ranked Dillard Bleu Devils in Tornado Alley. Talladega boasted ten seniors who were getting their send-off from fans, friends and family in Da'Jon Streeter, Ramon Johnson, Mannie Robinson, Jarin Hilson, Charles Shaw, Dondre Alexander, Khaliel Spearman, Josh Burnett, TJ Thomas, and Myles Howard. The Tornadoes also found themselves looking to step into second place in the conference, so it was time to end senior night in style with a show for the Talladega faithful.
Boy, did this one ever end in style. A strong second half capped off an incredible performance for the Tornadoes, as they sent the Bleu Devils home after the Tornadoes 88-71 win.
The first half was strong for the Tornadoes. With the second half approaching, the score stood at 45-31 Talladega as the teams headed to their respective locker rooms.
Talladega kept pouring in the points when play resumed for the second stanza.
As time expired the score would stand at 88-71 for a Tornado victory on Senior Day.
"This was a big win for our team," said Head Coach Chris Wright. "It made it more special being that it was on senior night. Our guys have really bought in to what we are trying to do and the results have been really good for us. We have a lot more basketball to play, but this team has a chance to be special."
Alexander led TC with 19 points while Hilson added 15. Streeter and Shaw also had strong performances with 13 and ten points respectively.
The win pushed Talladega to 22-6 on the season and gave them their tenth win in conference play (10-3 GCAC). The Tornadoes will now prepare to host their final home game of the season against Selma Wednesday.
