PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — The Southern men’s basketball team began the week with a record-setting start. On Saturday, it was all about the finish.Trailing by five points down the stretch, Malcolm Miller and Calvin Godfrey took over to lead the Jaguars to a 60-57 win against Prairie View in the Southwestern Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Miller hit a big 3-pointer with 1:56 remaining to give the Jaguars the lead for good, while Godfrey hit five free throws in the final 33 seconds to clinch the victory.
“It’s a game that is not good for my heart, but it was good for our team,” Southern coach Roman Banks said.
