BATON ROUGE, Louisiana -- Southern baseball coach Roger Cador brought in two new assistant coaches because they had more to offer than just their baseball acumen.Former LSU and major league right-hander Rick Greene was brought in not just to teach the Jaguars pitchers, but also to strengthen the program’s standing in the Baton Rouge community.
New hitting coach Mike Partida was brought in not just to work with the hitters, but also to use his roots in the athletes-rich Houston area to boost recruiting.
Cador said Greene, who has maintained visibility in the community through his 2 Seam Dream Foundation that raises money and awareness for cancer research, “fit the bill.”
