Jackson State looks for road win against rival Alcorn

JACKSON, Mississippi -- There hasn’t been many times this season when Jackson State has been expected to win a road game.

The Tigers figure to be the favorite heading into their matchup at Alcorn State, but realize it won’t be an easy task against their rival on the road when the two teams tip at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Davey L. Whitney Complex in Lorman.

“It’s a rivalry — if Alcorn is coming here or we’re going there, it’s probably going to be a packed out crowd,” JSU guard Raeford Worsham said. “It’s going to be a good game, no easy way about them. They’re going to play hard, so we have to play hard from the beginning until the end.”

Kenpom.com is predicting JSU (7-8, 2-0 SWAC) to earn a 72-64 victory against the Braves (3-10, 1-1). In order for the Tigers to do that, they’d have to overcome not only the aspects of a rivalry game, but also their road woes.
