NCCU basketball player facing drug charges

DURHAM, North Carolina  (WTVD) --  A standout North Carolina Central University basketball player has been charged with drug possession.

Durham County deputies arrested 23-year-old Landon Clement Thursday after allegedly finding 84 grams of marijuana and over $12,000 in cash inside his apartment. The NCCU senior graduated from Raleigh's Sanderson High School.



He and 20-year-old Kalifa Fletcher, who was also arrested, are both charged with possession with intent to sale and maintaining a dwelling for drug distribution. They are both ....

NCCU AD backs Moton despite arrest of 2nd player in 4 months

DURHAM, N.C. — After the second drug-related arrest this season of an N.C. Central basketball player, NCCU athletics director Ingrid Wicker-McCree is expressing confidence in NCCU basketball coach LeVelle Moton.

“I have a lot of respect for Coach Moton and for every individual who has chosen coaching as a career,” Wicker-McCree said. “Their jobs are extremely difficult, and every day they are teaching and instilling discipline in their students.”

Durham County Sheriff’s Office investigators on Thursday arrested Landon Clement at his apartment on Penrith Drive and charged him with offenses related to marijuana possession. Deputies seized 84 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a 2000 BMW and $12,008 in cash.  Kalifa Fletcher, who is not on NCCU’s basketball team but shared the apartment with Clement, was also charged. Both Clement and Fletcher were released the day of their arrests after posting $5,000 bonds.
