RALEIGH, North Carolina -- Virginia State University's softball team swept through the three-day CIAA Softball Round-Up undefeated at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex in Raleigh, NC that concluded on Sunday, March 11, 2012. The Lady Trojans were the only team to finish with a 6-0 mark. They capped the Round-Up by knocking off defending CIAA champion Winston-Salem State University 6-5 in the last game on the third and final day.
Outfielder Mikia Noble led the Lady Trojans with 3 hits and 2 runs in their sixth straight win at the 2012 CIAA Softball Round-Up. All of the Lady Trojans starters recorded a hit against the Lady Rams totaling a season-high 16 hits.
VSU scored 3 runs, on 4 hits and an error by the Winston-Salem State's defense in the first inning. Infielder Jameshia Smith and Mikia Noble both singled in back-to-back plate appearances to spark the Lady Trojans' offense. With the bases loaded full of Lady Trojans, infielder Endya Bailey singled to bring home teammate LaCara Hawkes. Catcher, Dominique Johnson singled to bring home Noble for the Lady Trojans third run of the inning
