CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- Livingstone’s men’s basketball team won 68-56 at Johnson C. Smith’s Brayboy Gym in a CIAA game attended by 1,479 fans on Saturday night.
The victory kept the Blue Bears (18-5, 10-4) in front of the Golden Bulls (16-8, 9-5) in the divisional standings. LC is 6-2 in the Southern Division, while J.C. Smith is 5-3.
Mark Thomas didn’t have a great shooting night, but he still finished with 19 points, six rebounds and four assists. Ethan Anderson scored 14 on 7-for-10 shooting.
Tyler Johnson and Jody Hill scored nine points each.
When the Golden Bulls cut Livingstone’s lead to six points with about six minutes to go, Johnson hit a jumper and made two free throws, and Livingstone maintained a safe lead the rest of the way.
The Blue Bears shot 43 percent, but they held J.C. Smith to 38-percent shooting.
Livingstone limited J.C. Smith star Trevin Parks to 13 points. He lit up the Bears when the Bulls won at Trent Gym.
