Former Hampton U's McCorory Wins Twice at IAAF World Indoor Championships




SOPOT, Poland   Former Hampton University track & field standout Francena McCorory took home a pair of gold medals this past weekend at the 2014 World Indoor Championships, winning the 400-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay.

McCorory, a three-time NCAA champion in the 400-meter dash at Hampton, turned in a 51.12 in the final to take the gold. She also turned in the quickest time of the semifinal round, taking her heat race with a 51.35.

She was also on the 4x400-meter relay squad that won gold with a 3:24.83.

Former Lady Pirate, and current assistant coach, Yvette Lewis advanced to the semifinals of the women's 60-meter hurdles over the weekend, turning in a 7.91 in the preliminary heats.

Current volunteer assistant coach Dominic Berger also advanced to the semifinals of the men's 60-meter hurdles, thanks to the 7.61 he ran in his preliminary race.
