INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- Shaw will open its NCAA run on Friday, March 14, when the Lady Bears will take on Gannon in the Atlantic Region. Regional play begins Friday at Glenville State (W.Va.) College, the top seed in the region.
Shaw enters the Atlantic Regional as the sixth seed, while Gannon is the third seed.
The Lady Bears finished the season 21-8 after capturing their fourth straight CIAA Championship by defeating Fayetteville State a week ago. The Lady Bears are 4-2 on neutral courts so far this season.
The Lady Knights, from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, are 27-3 overall and are 3-1 on neutral courts this season. Gannon was defeated in the PSAC championship game by Edinboro, who earned the second seed in the region.
CIAA member Virginia State - whose two losses on the season came at the hands of the Lady Bears - enters the tournament as the fifth seed where they will take on fourth seed Bloomsburg. In all, two teams from the CIAA, three from the PSAC and three from the Mountain East made the Atlantic Region tournament.
