GREENSBORO, North Carolina — Conventional wisdom goes something like this: A football team with two quarterbacks has no quarterback.
Well, consider N.C. A&T unconventional.
The Aggies (1-1) played two quarterbacks in their loss at North Carolina, and they plan to use both senior Kwashaun Quick and redshirt freshman Lamar Raynard against Elon (1-1) on Saturday at Rhodes Stadium.
“We’re going to play both of them,” A&T coach Rod Broadway said Monday. “We’re going to play both quarterbacks all year. Unless one of them gets hurt, we’ll go with both guys all year.”
Quick is 11-4 as a starting quarterback, including 7-2 last season when he finished ninth in the MEAC in rushing yards.
Raynard, who is from High Point and led Andrews to a high school state championship in 2013, is more of a pure passer. He is 16-of-30 for 228 yards and four touchdowns, and he has thrown TD passes in both games this season.
