Jackson: JSU Tigers need to reduce miscues

JACKSON, Mississippi -- They say winning is contagious. After two losses to open the season, Jackson State head coach Harold Jackson hopes losing isn’t contagious, too.

One thing that has seemed to spread throughout those two losses has been self-inflicted mistakes, which hurt the Tigers in Saturday’s 35-25 loss to Tennessee State in the Southern Heritage Classic.

It’s something JSU will need to stop when it opens SWAC play against Southern on Saturday.

“You can’t make mistakes and expect to go out and win ball games,” Jackson said at his weekly press conference on Monday. “Mistakes will get you beat, and that’s what we did this past week.”

“You’ve got to get in the playbook in do the right thing … We’re going out to play Southern, we can’t go out and play Jackson State either. If we can do that, we’ll be fine.”
