MURFREESBORO, Tennessee -- The opening game of the season often brings its share of sloppiness and mistakes.Earlier this week Jackson State coach Harold Jackson seemed concerned about his team playing its toughest opponent of the season, Middle Tennessee State, in its first game.
"I don't feel good about (having to play the best team first). I kind of like having somebody (to play) that we can get ourselves together," Jackson said. "But we'll take it on as we got it."
The Tigers committed their share of errors on offense, defense, and special teams, and that was the recipe for a 70-14 loss to the Blue Raiders in front of 15,908 fans at Floyd Stadium on Saturday.
"I thought we came into this ballgame ready to play," Jackson said. "Unfortunately, we weren't ready to play. In the beginning of the game they ran with that fast offense, and that wears your defense down. I think that's what happened.
"They rolled in a lot of guys, and we just didn't have enough guys to roll with them."
