NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana -- Dillard used 73 second half points to dismantle the Huston-Tillotson Rams by the score of 132-85 at the Battlefield in Dent Hall. Freshman Montrey Thomas (FR/Shreveport, La.) led all scorers with 26 points and dished out nine assists in a victory where the Bleu Devils produced seven scorers in double-figures.
The Bleu Devils (8-4, 0-0 GCAC) proved to be no match for Huston-Tillotson University as they dominated the Rams the entire afternoon by winning the rebound battle 58 to 32 and shooting better than 61 percent from the field. Junior Demetric Austin (JR/Washington, D.C.) finished with a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 12 boards while teammate and reigning Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year Patrick Thompson (SO/Geismar, La.) also finished with 21 points in the victory.
Ramon Johnson (SO/Newark, N.J.)Roboto, had a solid showing for the Bleu Devils, finishing with 16 points and nine boards.
Dillard returns to action on Saturday, January 2 as they travel to Jackson, Mississippi to face Tougaloo College in its first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference game of the year. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
