Alabama State Men's and Women's Golf Release 2018-19 Schedule

GF_Old CorkscrewMONTGOMERY, Alabama -- The Alabama State men's and women's golf teams have released their 2018-19 schedule, with Dr. Gary Grandison's clubs set to host the ASU Spring Golf Kickoff February 24-26.

Both teams will compete in five fall tournaments, beginning September 8-11 with the GolfWeek Collegiate Series in Myrtle Beach (S.C.). Three additional tournaments dot the September calendar for the Lady Hornets, with the USA Intercollegiate (September 14-17), the Chris Banister Golf Classic (September 22-25) and the Bearkat Women's Invitational to close out the month. The Gulf Shores Collegiate Invitational, October 20-22, rounds out the fall season for both the men and women.

The spring gets underway January 21-24 in Orlando (Fla.) as both teams will compete in the HBCU Winter Invitational. After hosting the ASU Spring Kickoff in February, the Lady Hornets will trek south to compete in the 'Bama Beach Bash, March 14-17. April will be a busy month for the Black and Gold, as the women will compete in the HBCU Match Play Invitational, the Murray State Invitational (Apr. 5-7) and the Women's Collegiate Golf Classic (April 8-10) before finishing out the year with the SWAC Championship, April 14-17, in Alexandria (La.).

In addition to the opening tournament of the year in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the men will take aim at a fall calendar that includes: The National Black Hall of Fame Invitational (September 28-30), The Skyhawk Fall Classic and The Chi-Town/Ted Rhodes Invitational. Following its home tournament, Alabama State will head west to Las Vegas, Nev. to compete in the Jackrabbit Invitational (March 7-9), hosted by the University of South Dakota. Before closing out the year with the SWAC Championship, the men will play in the HBCU Match Play Invitational alongside the Lady Hornets.

Alabama State will be looking to continue its SWAC dominance. The Lady Hornets have won five of six SWAC tournaments while the men will be looking to improve upon their second-place finish in 2018 after capturing the crown for six consecutive seasons.
