DOVER, Delaware -- Delaware State head women’s soccer coach Kortney Rhoades has announced that Kim Fearnbach and Joel Jean-Simon has joined her staff.
Fearnbach, a former standout player at NCAA Division III Wesley College in Dover, has spent the past five seasons as an assistant coach with the University of Delaware women’s soccer team. During her tenure with Delaware, the Blue Hens made three Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) playoff appearances. She also served as an assistant coach at Wesley College for one season, where her primary role was to train the goalkeepers.
Fearnbach has extensive club coaching and youth camp experience. She is a United States Soccer Federation National D Licensed coach and is currently pursuing her National C License. Fearnbach has head coaching experience with six different age groups over the span of three seasons at Kirkwood Soccer Club, where she still currently coaches. She spent three years coaching for the Olympic Development Program in both Delaware and New Jersey. She was also the Director of Sport Psychology for the club, and the Director of Player Development for the u9 and u10 age groups at Delaware Union Soccer Club, which led her to coach two teams with the Philadelphia Union Summer Select. Fearnbach also previously served coaching stints at No. 1 Soccer Camps, Monmouth University Youth Soccer Camp, Blue Hens Soccer Camps, Concord Soccer Association and St. Elizabeth’s High School.
While at Wesley, Fearnbach played goalkeeper as a freshman in 2008 and as a forward her final three seasons. In 2011, she served as team captain, where she also ranked second in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) in goals and points. That same year, she was named the team Most Valuable Player. Fearnbach finished her career and currently ranks in the Top-10 for both goals and points in Wesley’s record books.
Jean-Simon was a volunteer coach for the Hornets last season.
A native of Silver Spring, Md., he was a standout player at Spring Brook High School his four years there.
Jean-Simon also completed for Team America Premier Futbol Club (TAP FC) in Virginia from 2008-2010, helping the team win a VYSA state title in 2010.
As a collegian, he was a four-year starting defender/midfielder at Wesley College from 2009-2012. In 2012, he was a senior captain and recorded two goals. He graduated with a bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science.
Jean-Simon started his coaching career in high school soccer at Sussex Tech (Del.) High School in 2013 before moving to Smyrna (Del.) High School from 2014-2016.
He attended Delaware State University where he received his Master’s in Sports Administration in 2017 and was a volunteer for the Hornets during the 2017-2018 season.
Jean-Simon currently works as a coach for the Coastal Atlantic FC '07 Girls team.
