The mantra for first-year head coach Eric Dooley is simple – spot the ball. Place it anywhere on the field, and his team will be ready. Within that theme is a characteristic that began when Dooley was hired and met with his team, through the spring and now here in August – competition; battling against your teammate in individual and team drills, and ultimately, completing for playing time.
"For the most part, everyone is out here competing and understands the big picture," Dooley said. "I think they've done a good job in all phases. No one has a job that has been promised to them, so we're still in that stage of evaluation. We'll make those decisions as time continues to draw near, but I think the guys are doing a great job of competing every day."
Prairie View A&M continue to prepare for the August 25 game at Rice with a Thursday morning practice at Panther Stadium.
"I thought it was a good practice today," Dooley said. "I thought we had good execution on both sides of the ball and in special teams. Although it's deep in the week, the guys continue to work hard and show a lot of energy. The effort part is still there."
The Panthers will practice Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m., and Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
