WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Howard University women's soccer (3-6-1, 1-1-1) won its alumni night conference game against Grambling State University (5-7, 2-1) on Friday.
Senior forward Makela Davidson scored the only goal of the game. At the 59 minute mark, Davidson scored off of an assist from senior Marley Christian from about 25 yards out.
Goalkeeper Alayah Hightower had five saves and allowed zero goals. She played all 90 minutes of the game.
Statistically, Howard was outshot by Grambling, 15-11. Seven of those 11 shots came in the second half. Both teams had four corner kicks.
During halftime the Bison recognized visiting alumni. One former player came all the way from Toronto, Canada.
The Bison return to Greene Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. to host University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff.
