HUNTSVILLE, Alabama - Alabama A&M men's basketball coach Willie Hayes, who has been on the job for more than two months, is getting closer to signing a contract, school officials said earlier this week.Hayes replaced long-time coach Vann Pettaway, who resigned after 25 years on the job. He has been working in good faith since being hired on May 26 and remains confident a deal will be struck soon.
"I think we're going to get it done," Hayes said. "The university is going through a lot of stuff financially and dealing with SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools). After they get done with that, I think we'll sit down and get this done."
