NSU: Charleston Southern scouting report

Charleston, SC - Charleston Southern went 3-8 last year and finished 1-5 in the Big South. It has two first-team preseason All-Big South Conference players in defensive back Charles James and offensive lineman Levi McFatter (what a name for a lineman by the way. Good thing he’s plenty strong).

The Bucs were predicted to finish tied for fourth in the seven-team league in the coaches preseason poll and returned seven defensive starters and four offensive ones. The last time Charleston Southern played a current MEAC team was 2009, when it beat Savannah State 47-10. The Bucs have been beaten badly by two FBS programs – Central Florida and Florida State – with a third loss against Jacksonville, which is 1-1 and beat Old Dominion last year. The Bucs are playing their home opener, but with an average crowd of under 3,300, NSU shouldn’t have to worry about the intensity of the venue.
