EDINBORO, Pennsylvania -- Johnson C. Smith seniors Shavonda Price, Terran Quattlebaum and LaQwesha Gamble were hesitant to answer postgame questions Friday afternoon. Call it keeping a lid on boiling frustration after losing 61-50 to No. 22-ranked Gannon in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional at Edinboro University.
"This is their last regional tournament," Golden Bulls coach Vanessa Taylor said. "Certainly this is not the way we planned to go out so we just want to make sure we do a great job of representing our university.
"So if they're a little hesitant to speak - 10 minutes, a lot of times, for young people may not be enough to collect your thoughts."
A sixth seed, the Knights answered J.C. Smith's spirited 15-4 run with a 12-4 run to take a 46-36 lead with 7 minutes, 32 seconds left in the game. Senior Caitlyn Lowe and redshirt freshman Doriyon Glass hit consecutive 3-pointers to begin Gannon's streak.
