EDINBORO, Pennsylvania -- At Edinboro, senior forward Kyria Buford scored 28 points and hauled down 14 rebounds as Shaw toppled West Virginia Wesleyan in Friday's first round of the Division II Atlantic Regional at McComb Fieldhouse.
Shaw (24-6), the defending regional champion from the 2011 regional also played at Edinboro, will meet Gannon (22-6) today at 5 p.m. in the first semifinal game.
The CIAA-champion Bears had to finally cool down the WVIAC-champion Bobcats (24-7), who made 9-of-12 3-point attempts in the first half to trail just 50-49. Senior guard Lydia Bridenbaugh, the third-leading scorer in D-II, went over the 2,000-point mark with a 27-point outing.
